About Drs. Bearie and Pruis
Dr. Bearie
Several years ago, my life changed when I had LASIK surgery. The rewards I enjoy from this experience motivated me to dedicate my career to providing world class refractive surgery. As an eye surgeon, I see many patients every day whose quality of life has been diminished by poor vision. For some, it has been a lifetime of blur without the use of glasses or contacts, for others, it is a distressing, but recent development. Either way, in the majority of cases I can dramatically improve, or even totally correct vision dysfunction.
This responsibility is not one I take lightly. I realize that my workmanship and skill will impact each person I treat for the remainder of their life. The joy I see from patients before they even leave our surgical suite after a LASIK procedure deepens my daily commitment to excellence.

Roseanne M. Pruis, O.D.
I have a very personal interest in vision care. Growing up extremely nearsighted, I know what it is like to have to reach for glasses each morning. I’ve personally experienced the profound change optometrists and ophthalmologists can have on anyone, young or old, searching out a solution to clearer, crisper, more vibrant vision.
One of the factors which compelled me to become an optometrist is the idealistic notion that I help people see. The joy that comes from specializing in refractive surgery brings this excitement forward every day. The change we provide you is so personal. You are nervous when you first visit us. And after surgery, the excitement, the “Wow!” is so rewarding.
I am especially proud to partner with Dr. Bearie in your pre- and post-operative care. I’ve worked with several surgeons over the years, and he truly stands out. The care he takes, his commitment to technology that truly improves results, the compassion and skill he shows each patient is a gift. I hope you will see that in all of us here at Grand Rapids Eye Institute. Your outcome, the vision we provide you, is what motivates and inspires us. Thank you for trusting us with your eyes.
